“ The convergence of electronics with Photonics and Biology “
The emerging field of Bioelectronics seeks to exploit biology in conjunction with electronics in a wider context encompassing, for example, biological fuel cells, bionics and biomaterials for information processing, information storage, electronic components and actuators. Biophotonics is the science of generating and harnessing light (photons) to image, detect and manipulate biological materials. Biophotonics is an emerging area of scientific research that uses light and other forms of radiant energy to understand the inner workings of cells and tissues in living organisms.
The Department of Electronic Engineering, the Erasmus Office of TEI of Crete and the ELBYSER project organize a one-day seminar devoted to the modern field of bio-photonics and bio-electronics. The event is organized as an opportunity in addition to the teaching visit of Professor George Malliaras and Dr Roisie Owens from the Department of Bioelectronics of Saint Etienne University in France. Professor Malliaras and Dr Roisie Owens are considered as one of the pioneers of the emerging of organic electronics with biological applications.
In this event will participate as guest lecturers scientists from TEI of Crete and IESL FORTH that have proven expertise in these two fields.
